LARRY RILEY took to the podium revealing our Rotarian of the Month (ROM) with every passing word. He talked about the outstanding contributions of a certain individual who has given to our club beyond measure. Adding, “It’s heartening to acknowledge someone who has dedicated their time, energy and passion toward making our club better in every way!”
He talked about this person’s outstanding dedication and exceptional service to our Rotary club and the community. “Service Above Self” personifies this individual.
Larry then recited words the Board came up with to describe this person: Kind, Wise, Smart, Giving, Cerebral, Thoughtful, Composed, Professorial, Participates, is a good listener, is curious and a good teammate! He described this person as “pensive.” And why the fancy word? Well, because he is! He is pensive in thought and articulate in words. Pensive means engaged, involved, reflective and serious in thought.
Finally, our ROM was described as Larry’s marketing wingman and a valued copy editor. With Club having a pretty good idea who he was talking about, Larry announced it was MARK OLSON. And then, with a humble smile and wave, Mark acknowledged the members as they honored him with a standing ovation and hearty applause!
